Hi! I’m Sheila a.k.a. The Solo Tripper. If you see me on the street, you can cry out “Maria!”. But if you want me to turn my head and smile at you, call me “Sheila”.
I love to travel as much as I love writing. I started solo traveling in 2012. It was a birthday whim. I wanted to celebrate my special day differently so I ditched the usual KTV bash with my friends and booked a flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. I had no detailed itinerary, no thick guidebooks, no foldable maps. I was only armed with a short list of “what to see” and “what to do” in Cambodia. And I nailed it! That was the start of my love affair with solo travel. I have traveled mostly across South East Asia. And I’m just getting started.
I have spent most of my work life behind the news desk, from producing and writing to editing. But now that I have “early-retired” from my media life, I have more time to soak up everything about travel.
TRAVEL WITH ME!
This blog isn’t just about destination guides, traveling tips, and touristy photos. The Solo Tripper is also about experiences, discoveries, making friends out of strangers. I love telling stories about people I meet on the road, both locals and tourists. This is how we bring the world closer to each other – by sharing stories.
I am just one traveler and the destination is endless. So let’s hit the road and start the journey together!
